Registered Dietitian (RD)
Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)
Hi! I am so glad that you stopped by! Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I’m Jennifer Baum (aka Jay), a Registered Dietitian based in Toronto, Canada. I am the owner of Pommetta Nutrition, a private practice that focuses on infant, toddler, and family nutrition.
As a mama of two young boys, I have experienced first-hand the joy of watching my children learn to eat. Yet, I know that at times feeding children can also be stressful and confusing. Through Pommetta Nutrition, I provide families with nutrition education, intervention, and support so that your child can thrive and maximize their health potential.
Jay completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health with a Major in Dietetics from the University of British Columbia in 2010. Her nutrition training included a 10-month Dietetic Internship with the Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia. Jay is registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario and a member of Dietitians of Canada. With clinical experience in hospitals, outpatient clinics, group facilitation, and one-to-one counselling, Jay uses her nutrition knowledge and skills to support parents on their journey to optimize their child’s nutrition and correct problem eating behaviours.
Before becoming a dietitian, Jay was a pastry chef. She graduated from the Dubrulle International Culinary Institute in Vancouver, where she completed both the French Culinary Arts and Pastry Programs. Her past jobs included some pretty ritzy restaurant kitchens and one pastry shop, where she also made wedding cakes! Jay combines her nutrition education and culinary knowledge to help families implement simple and practical solutions to meal preparation and cooking that makes it possible to meet their nutritional needs and meal time goals.
Food and Nutrition Philosophy:
At Pommetta Nutrition, we embrace an intuitive eating approach with a focus on eating competence. We believe that children start out as wise little intuitive eaters. They have innate hunger and satiety cues. Parents need to preserve, protect, and in some cases restore those cues. This is not an easy job! But through education, intervention and support Pommetta Nutrition can make it a whole lot easier. Our goal is to help parents provide their children with the best opportunity to develop into competent and adventurous eaters with a positive relationship to both food and their bodies.
Let us help you nourish your family!
